An open-world RPG is not complete without the ability to romance.Dragon’s Dogma 2has always had an option for romancing, but the series does not do romance in the same fashion that other video games do. Instead of romancing, it is instead called the Beloved system.

You can increase romance with different characters within the game. Only some of them can progress to love scenes and special dialogue. This is a guide on how the Beloved system in Dragon’s Dogma 2 works and how to increase your affinity with an NPC.

How To Romance Someone In Dragon’s Dogma 2

Technically, you can “romance” every NPC in the game. Each NPC has an affinity level. The goal isn’t necessarily to have a romantic relationship with them but to acquire resources and information you otherwise would not. When you increase affinity with NPCs, you gain skills, gifts, and discounts.

You can increase your relationship with traders and merchants in order to acquire a discount at their store. You can evensleep with an elven tavern keeperin order to learn elvish. These are some of the benefits of working on a relationship with an NPC.

The more you complete a character’s personal quests, the higher your affinity will get with them. This makes it easier to bed them instead of relying on gift-giving alone.

Which NPCs Have Intimacy Scenes?

Since the game is so new, it is a bit of a gamble with what we know. So far, we know thatUlrika, Wilhelmina, and theelven innkeeperhave intimacy scenes.

Ulrika is part of a series of quests where you return to Melve. The elven innkeeper is found in an elven village called Sacred Arbor, which you can find by following a series of quests from Glyndwr in Vernworth. Wilhelmina is first met at the masquerade during the Stolen Throne quest.

How To Give Gifts In Dragon’s Dogma 2

Once youHail someone down, you should be able topress X on Xbox(Square on PS or Y on keyboard) while they are speaking to Give Gift. This prompt can show up too fast if the NPC only has one line of dialogue.

With this prompt, you can select just about any item from your inventory. It is important to give NPCs gifts they actually like; otherwise, their affinity will not increase. When an NPC has max affinity levels, they will visibly blushwhen you talk with them.

How To Become Someone’s Beloved

To increase affinity, your best friend will be the NPC Logbook. Open the logbook by opening themain menu and selecting History > NPC Logbook. TheNPC Logbook will tell you every NPC’s most preferred giftas well as where you are most likely to find the NPC.

You can “favorite” NPCs in this drop-down list to quickly find their name again. Favorite an NPC with A on Xbox, X on PS, and F on keyboard.

The logbook will not tell you the exact items a character likes but rather what category the item lies under. Beautiful items include things like flowers and raw crystals. The table below gives examples of what to look for when offering a gift to an NPC.

You cannot marry someone in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Relationship building, even with intimate scenes, only leads to high affinity (blushing) and rewards (discounts, gifts). No long-term relationship. If you own a house, those with max affinity levels may show up with gifts.

If the person you are trying to receive discounts or benefits from has a related quest, make sure to complete it.Completing quests for that NPC will raise affinity levels higherthan just gift-giving.
