Where Can You Find Chocobos?

Chocobos can be found in the open world, and you’ll need tosneak up and tame themto use them as a mount throughout each region once you leave Midgar. These massive birds are a fun and engaging way to move around the map, and are essential to getting to hard-to-reach places.

Once you unlock the region’s chocobos, you may mount them and ride across the region freely.

There are also chocobo chicks that roam the wilds and will come find you. If you’re near a Chocobo Stop, they’ll lead you the rest of the way so you can repair the broken sign. You’ll either pick up the signs yourself or use your chocobo mount to help.

These cute little chocobo chicks will thank you for helping out and allow you to pet them – and you should, because they’re the only chocobos you can pet in the game.

How Many Chocobo Stops Are There?

There are dozens of Chocobo Stops across Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and there’s a chocobo chick that can lead you to each one. There are six regions with Chocobo Stops, and each region has eight – making a total of 48 Chocobo Stops in total.

Some areas, like the cliffs in Junon, make it more difficult to find the Chocobo Stops, and you may miss the chocobo chick.

After you repair each Chocobo Stop, you’re able to take a moment to pet the baby chocobo. While there’s no real reward for petting the little bird, it’s quite cute and makes for a unique interaction that breaks from the standard flow of play.

If you find a Chocobo Stop on your own without following a baby chocobo, you can wait to repair it until later. Once the stop is repaired, the opportunity to pet a baby chocobo is gone, so take advantage of the opportunity while it’s in front of you!
