There are a lot of reasons why you might want a hidden entrance to yourMinecraftbase. It might be functional; the less people know about your base on a Factions or PvP server, the better. Alternatively, it might be to impress your friends, or simply for the sake of fun and creativity.
You don’t have to reveal your motives if you don’t want to, but you should set aside some time to look over these hidden entrance ideas, so that you can determine which design will suit your needs the best. Just… don’t forget where your entrance is once it’s built; that’d be a bit embarrassing.
8The Oldest Trick In The Book
You know the old saying: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. For those of you looking for a rudimentary, but remarkably simple way to access your base, all you have to do is cover up the entrance with blocks, break them when you want to get in, and patch everything up when you leave.
Sure, it gets annoying to do that after a while, but hey, you didn’t have to learn any fancy Redstone circuits or mechanisms, and these are oftentimes one of the hardest bases to detect. Also, it’s a good idea to mark down the coordinates of your base using this method.
7Painting With Trapdoors Entrance
Most of you have probably heard of this hidden entrance; it is, after all, one of the most famous fake wall tricks. To take everything a step further, though, make a two by two hole in a wall, place some trapdoors, some temporary blocks, and place a painting over the hole.
With the painting placed, you may break those temporary blocks. Here’s the cool part: try jumping through the painting like you normally would. Didn’t work, right? To get through this fake painting, you have to jump and crouch at the same time, which can fool players into thinking the wall is solid.
6Piston Door Entrance
Whether by lever, button, pressure plate, or anything else you’re able to think of, a great way to access your hidden base is through a simple, two by one piston door that uses blocks from the surrounding environment to blend in.
If you don’t know how to make this type of piston door, it’s thankfully one of the easiest to make; much less complex than a two by two or three by three piston door. There are plenty of helpful videos on YouTube you can reference.Looking to build more Redstone stuff? There’s nothing wrong with unlocking your inner tinkerer.
5Snow And Scaffolding Entrance
If you want to set yourself up in a snowy biome, you can dig a one-block hole in the ground, at least five blocks deep, place scaffolding from the surface to the floor, and place a thin layer of snow on top, making it completely hidden.
To access your base, simply stand on top of the snow and scaffolding you placed, and hold your crouch key to start sinking into the ground. The best part is this won’t break the snow, so there’s no maintenance required.
4Note Block Entrance
While this minimalist hidden entrance does use a bit of Redstone, and requires a separate exit unless you consider yourself somewhat of a Redstone engineer, this note block mechanism is highly versatile and fun to use.
Bright green blocks are used for example purposes only; use more innocuous blocks, like bookshelves or something else. Otherwise, just wire up a basic sticky piston circuit to the note block. If set up correctly, once the note block is hit, the pistons will move away two blocks to reveal a room you made below the floor.
3Shulker Box Entrance
Since Shulker boxes have collision and, functionally speaking, raise their height momentarily when opened, you can stand on top of the box, open it, and be pushed downwards through the Shulker Box to your secret base hidden below.Don’t know much about Shulkers? That’s okay, they end up being pretty predictable.
Just ensure the ceiling above the Shulker Box is only three blocks tall, otherwise your player model won’t collide with the ceiling as your height is increasing. Also, be sure to have a way to get out of your hidden base; this is a one-way entrance.
2Sneaky Observer Entrance
Did you know that you’re able to put water into an encased stair block? Combined with an Observer block, which is able to detect in-game changes in real time and send Redstone pulses, you can make some seriously sneaky Redstone mechanisms, and thus, water-based hidden entrances.
Whether it’s a two by two piston door, or frankly any kind of Redstone-activated mechanism that needs a brief burst of power, you can make some amazing, practically undetectable entrances that effectively use a bucket of water as their unlocking mechanism.
1Lava Entrance
Thanks to this secret lava entrance, you can convince your friends this small pit of lava is just what you use to quickly destroy unwanted items. Hidden beneath that one-block thick pool of lava, though, is a bunch of wood signs and water.
Once you’ve steeled your nerves, you’ll be able to dive through, oftentimes completely undamaged, as long as you’re holding shift to descend quickly the moment your player model touches the lava. Just… don’t let anyone see you do this, otherwise the jig is up!
