Summary
Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update introducescombat trinkets, items you can equip in a trinket slot that allows you to add combat benefits (and even a few creature friends, too!) to your game. Whether you’re looking for a little extra health regeneration as you fight monsters, or a speed boost to escape said monsters, these trinkets can save you a lot of trouble!
The trinkets can be collected once you’ve unlocked theCombat Mastery, which is a late-stage unlock that may take you close to four in-game years. Less, if you’re extremely focused on obtaining these trinkets and the combat side of the game. Who could blame you, with benefits like these?

The stats of these trinkets can be re-rolled with anAnvil, another item added to the game in the 1.6 update. Re-rolling costs threeIridium Bars.
8Magic Hair Gel
This trinket is purely cosmetic, but that doesn’t make it any less cool. With this equipped, your farmer’s hair will glow with all the different colors of aPrismatic Shard, in a cycle. You can equip multiple trinkets at once, so don’t worry about having to replace your character’s added pizzazz with a more practical trinket.
Magic Hair Gel
Prismatic Shardsare, as most regular Stardew players know, difficult to find even as you begin advancing in the game, but the Skull Caverns are your best bet for this trinket and the shards themselves. The appearance value of this item alone is worth the grind, especially since it’ll feel like you’re carrying a Prismatic Shard around with you.
7Parrot Egg
You’ll feel like a pirate captain with this trinket! It spawns a parrot companion to follow you around, even into dangerous areas, to help you find extra gold. The chance of your parrot companion finding gold can be re-rolled with theAnvil, but to start, it’s more fun having the parrot be there picking up gold coins for you as you dive into any combat situation.
Parrot Egg
And yes, the parrot isimmune to damage! It would be heartbreaking (and riot-inducing) if your companion could die, but it is, fortunately, only a trinket. The extra gold chance doesn’t decrease based on the area you go into, either, so the consistent chance is pretty encouraging when you’re debating which trinkets to get.
6Golden Spur
This trinket is a little extra speed boost for your daring escapes, especially when your adventures take you a little past 11pm. It only gives you a re-rollable chance of a speed boost when youcritically hit a monster, but a hit-and-run scenario is often needed when you’re low on health or running low on time.
Golden Spur
The Golden Spur’s benefits are similar to those numerousfood recipesthat provideSpeed +1without any enemies involved. But for players who love the combat mechanics or practicing their critical attacks, this trinket is invaluable. It really makes you want to practice your sword-fighting, doesn’t it?
5Frog Egg
Who doesn’t love frogs? Okay, some people might not, but this frog companion might change their minds! This frog eats your enemies whole, following you around ‘full’ for a few seconds before returning to its smaller, normal size. Unfortunately, this frog can only inhale one monster at a time, and it only succeeds in killing it, not looting it.
Frog Egg
You can also re-roll this trinket using an Anvil to change the color of both the frog and the egg. Your new froggy friend will follow you around everywhere, so it might as well match your aesthetic!
Available colors include:
The frog eatsanyenemy, including the un-killable ones in the Skull Caverns, like bugs or mummies. It’s a strong frog!
4Magic Quiver
This trinket is basically an automatic weapon, since whenever you have it equipped it willshoot arrow projectilesat any nearby enemies. The amount of damage these arrows do and how often they fire can bere-rolled, but just starting out with a little extra weaponry doesn’t hurt.
Magic Quiver
The Magic Quiver is your own personal sniper on your back, especially when you’re running away from a particularly fast monster. If you’re someone who likes to charge into battle like a warrior instead of a simple farmer, this trinket is for you!
3Ice Rod
The Ice Rod will have you feeling like the Wizard M. Rasmodius' apprentice in no time! Like theMagic Quiver, it shoots projectiles that will do re-rollable damage to your enemies, but not only that; it willfreeze monsters in their tracks. There are few things as magical in combat as this trinket, which is surprising given the amount of magic lurking around each corner in Pelican Town.
Ice Rod
This trinket can be harder to find than the others, especially since it’s so powerful against any small monster, but it’s well worth the search if you’re proving yourself a true master of combat. Like the rest of these trinkets, it depends on where you look andhow lucky you are.
2Fairy Box
Speaking of magic lurking around, theFairy Box trinketwill remind you to slow down once in a while, especially while you’re fighting. It spawns a Fairy companion that will follow you around wherever you go. This graceful friend won’t just follow you, though; it will heal you whenever you’re hit by an enemy.
Fairy Box
You can also re-roll the level of the fairy, changing its level anywhere from 1-5, which scales the healing it can do appropriately. If you’re someone who takes damage often or has difficulty dodging attacks, this trinket companion is great to have along on your adventures.
1Basilisk Paw
Aside from having the coolest name, this trinket has arguably the coolest stats. Equipping the Basilisk Paw makes youimmune to any and all debuffs. Being slimed, burnt, frozen, weakened, jinxed, or nauseated is a thing of the past once you find this trinket.
Basilisk Paw
It can’t be re-rolled, but it even makes you immune to the Darkness effect from aShadow Sniper, so it doesn’t need a re-roll to improve. It’s no wonder it’s the paw of a mythical beast like a Basilisk — this is the trinket with the most effective use of all the trinkets in the game. Immunity is a powerful thing.
