Ship combat is the best part ofSkull and Bones. You don’t get the sense of exploration that was felt inAssassin’s Creed: Black Flag or thatSea of Thievesexcels at, but you get a product that is laser-focused on giving you fun ship battles.
you may customize your ship in whatever way you like, mix and match weapons or all-in on one type. If you can think of it, you most likely can do it. These are all the ship weapons in Skull and Bones, ranked.

Although this list is ranked, the top three entries are actually a tie. Those three ship weapons are equally strong, it really just comes down to personal preference and what your prefered playstyle is in Skull and Bones.
9Rockets
Big Number, Big Disappointment
Despite being a bit of a later-game unlock, the rockets are quite disappointing. The 7500dmg number that you see in the image might get you excited, but you’ll rarely see that number pop up in actual combat.
You’ll only get the total damage shown if you hit all the rockets you throw at your opponent, and that won’t happen unless they’re literally standing still. You’re better off just opting for weapons that are a lot more reliable, even if they theoretically deal a bit less damage.

8Torpedo
Strong, But Unreliable
The Torpedo isn’t a bad weapon per se, but it is extremely hard to use well. Much like rockets, they have incredibly high damage potential, but they’re so slow moving and tough to aim, that you’ll have a hard time hitting most of them.
The AI moves unpredictably, especially when other AI ships are involved. You’ll be dealing a lot more damage with more conventional weapons, which will also be easier to use. With that being said, you could equip them either in the front of back of your ship as specialized offensive tool.

7Culverin
Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None
The culverin does everything you want it to do in a relatively good fashion. The perfect way to describe how they feel is ‘meh.’ They’re versatile, but they don’t excel at anything. With the amount of ship weapons you can have when you move onto medium-sized ships, there’s no point to having a culverin.
you’re able to just have more one-dimensional weapons that excel at their specialty. They’ll be extremely useful in the early game, especially at dealing with guard towers during Plunder, but you’ll quickly swap them for some other ship weapon.

6Ballista
A DPS Monster
The ballista is very strong, dealing tons of damage on a very low reload timer. It has a very respectable range and will shoot faster than anything else you can acquire in Skull and Bones. The only reason why it doesn’t rank higher, is because it is limited to the front of the ship.
Long Guns serve a similar purpose, but can be equipped in different ship slots. You can still have a single ballista equipped, of course, but once you get to the point of the game where you’ll unlock it, other weapons will most likely fit your builds better than this one.

5Sea Fire
Hell On Sea
The sea fire is the coolest ship weapon inSkull and Bones. You get a literal flamethrower that shoots a huge line of flames at your enemy, burning their ship to a crisp. They deal excellent damage and synergize perfectly with fire-focused builds.
They do have a massive downside, and that is range. You have to be practically hugging your enemy for sea of fire to deal damage, but if you do, they’ll melt in a matter of seconds. You can use them well in a build that focuses on ramming, for example.

4Mortar
Hell From Above
Mortars are exactly what you expect. They’re quite difficult to aim, take multiple seconds to reach their destination and will often miss entirely. Although that doesn’t sound great, their hitbox is quite generous, and their damage is absolutely ridiculous.
If you hit a ship with a mortar round, it will either be sunk, or in the process of sinking. They’re definitely easier to use than something like the rockets, with nearly the same amount of damage, and while also being effective atdealing with groups of enemies.

3Bombard
The AOE King
Bombard is your go-to weapon if you want to take less time aiming, and want to be effective at medium to close ranges. They deal a ton of damage and have a decent reload speed, which makes them one of the best weapons in Skull and Bones.
They excel at dealing with multiple ships at once, so they’ll be very useful in most of the PVE content the game has to offer, although they won’t feel as good at content like the Plunders. Still, they are the best weapon for elemental damage builds.

2Long Gun
A Ship Sniper!?
The long gun is our personal favorite, and is a fantastic ship weapon to use. It has a very slow reload timing, but it more than makes up for that with extremely high damage numbers. It also has the best range of any weapon in the game.
This will be your weapon of choice if you liketaking careful shotsand blowing weak points apart, or if you’re testing a more glass-cannon build with little to no defensive furniture. Long guns are also excellent at dealing with guard towers.

1Demi Cannon
A Ship Shotgun!?
Demi-cannons are an absolute blast to use (pun intended). They are quite literally useless at medium to long ranges, but again, you have multiple weapons at your disposal, so you can pair them up with something that’s good at medium to long range.
When you get up close and personal though, there is nothing like a demi-cannon burst in Skull and Bones. You’ll be dealing so much damage you’ll feel like Doomguy himself came up from Hell with a Super Shotgun just to personally demolish your enemy.
