Summary

Counter-Strike 2had a rocky start because people hate change, but for Counter-Strike to ever compete in the modern era, CS2 was an update that was essential. They got a lot of things wrong in the early days, but now that it’s in a more stable spot, Counter-Strike 2 is better than ever.

The growing popularity of the game along with the competitive ranked system is pushing players to get better at the gunplay by expanding their knowledge. Not all guns, particularly pistols, are created equal in CS2 and since there are two dedicated pistol rounds and a lot of people eco with pistols in hand, it’s important to classify them based on how good they are.

The R8 Revolver was literally a pocket AWP when it first came out, able to kill enemies in one shot, dealing the same damage as an AWP. After an emergency nerf and the community questioning Valve’s decision-making skills, the R8 Revolver was put in a much more reasonable place, and despite being fairly balanced, nobody really uses it.

The Dual Berettas in CS2

Because of how much time it takes for the left click to land an accurate shot, many people prefer the much better Desert Eagle over this. The right click shots are unreliable and don’t really turn the tide of battle, so it’s better to just not equip the R8 in your loadout.

The CZ75-Auto in CS2

20/100

The Five-SeveN is the CT side $500 alternative to the much better Tec-9 and though it accomplishes the same general feats, its recoil is much more spread out when running, so rushing with the pistol would be foolish. At the same time, you can definitely see that it has some plus points with a one-shot headshot potential even for armored opponents at close range.

The Glock-18 from CS2

But that alone can’t guarantee its effectiveness, and it’s totally dependent on the player using the gun. Overall, it’s a waste of money to buy this gun during pistol rounds, but it might be better in eco rounds if you know how to use this gun properly.

Tec-9 from CS2

30/120

TheDual Berettas see much more action in Counter-Strike 2compared to in its predecessor, especially in Pistol rounds. They’re a $400 never ending magazine of bullets that deal decent damage and have low recoil.

The USP-S from CS2

If you’re skilled enough, this gun has enough bullets to kill the entire opposite team and still has bullets to spare. It has become a favorite in pistol rounds because it essentially is a better Glock-18 and the satisfying headshots you can hit with them are a major plus point.

The P2000 is the USP-S alternative for the CT side and is very similar in many ways. They both shoot one-shot headshots at long ranges in pistol rounds, they both have almost the same number of bullets and they both have essentially the same amount of damage.

Everybody prefers the USP-S though, but not because of the silencer, since it barely plays a roll most rounds, but because of the stabler recoil control that provides the security you need at longer ranges. The USP-S also outshines the P2000 in the skins department, having many more and better-looking skins, showing that even Valve favors the former over the latter.

The CZ75-Auto is criminally underrated and, for that reason, finds itself so high up on this list. Because players haven’t really given this gun a try, they don’t know its effectiveness in most situations.

In pistol rounds, it’s about as useful as the Five-SeveN, but in eco rounds, when an opponent has his back turned, you can empty your entire magazine and guarantee a kill. This fully automatic pistol is much more reliable in Ecos and even boasts good recoil control that has given it some extra points.

The Glock-18 is a reliable and consistent short-range pistolfor the Terrorist side, and it shines if you quickly rush any of the bomb sites with your teammates. The running and strafing recoil is nonexistent, which means you can hit one taps in a pistol round while rushing.

Though it’s not as good as its CT counterpart, the USP-S, at longer ranges, the Glock is incredibly easy and satisfying to use and any good player with a Glock will outperform other pistols by a significant margin.

13/26

The P250 is essentially a better Glock, having the long-range capability that the Glock is missing, and you’re able to hit one taps like the USP-S in pistol rounds. It’s essentially the best of both worlds, having a similar fire rate to the Glock, which means you can spam it fast at close range and shoot heads at medium to long ranges.

You can even use it in eco rounds, outplaying your opponent if you have great aim. The best way to capitalize on the P250 though, is to rush as much as possible and treat the pistol like a semi-auto SMG, especially on the T side of the game.

The Tec-9 is the terrorist side counterpart of the Five-SeveNthat the CTs wish they could have. You can spam with it, one tap people from afar if they’ve not bought a helmet, and rush sites while shooting and always get some kills.

The first-shot accuracy is better than any other pistol, even when moving, which means the better your aim is, the better the Tec-9 is. This pistol has been around for a long time and has been good and bad during its life cycle, but right now it’s close to the top in terms of performance. It’s an excellent overall pistol.

12/24

The USP-S is the most satisfying pistol to use in pistol rounds, being the P2000’s better older brother. Hitting one taps from across the map and hearing the satisfying crunch of a headshot is a feeling like no other.

Sure, the Ts have the better rifles, but the CTs have been blessed with the USP-S, which can hold corners like no other pistol and is simple to use. Once you get the hang of the USP, you’ve basically guaranteed a CT side pistol round for your team, especially if you’re playing a map like Dust or Overpass where you generally face the opponent at a distance.

The Desert Eagle is the king of pistols because of its one-tap potentialeven against armored opponents. It’s simple yet effective and requires an incredibly high skill ceiling to master.

The truth is, everybody loves the Desert Eagle, and everybody strives to better their aim through this pistol, so you’ll see it pop up in ecos, anti-Ecos, and the wilder folks even prefer to use it over AKs and M4s. Besides having better alternatives in every kind of round during competitive matchmaking, the Deagle will always be the king of pistols, because you can literally turn the tide of battle through a good Deagle player.
