Ever since its release,Helldivers 2has invited us to fight for Democracy against all those enemies who would seek to do it harm across the galaxy. However, to fight properly, you’ll need to ensure you have the right keybinds and controller inputs to maximize your efficiency on the battlefield.
Some of the keybinds in Helldivers can seem strange if you’re not used to playing the game, which can hurt your performance in each mission. Thankfully, developer Arrowhead Studios has allowed you to change almost all the inputs inside the game, creating a more customized experience for how you prefer to play.
Best PC Keybinds
There are some strange choices in the PC keybinds for Helldivers 2, butyou have the freedom to customize the inputsto be more comfortable. Due to the way the game’s controls work,you won’t be able to testmost of the new inputsuntil you startor join a game.
To change this, you’llneed to navigate to the pause menu.
In addition to these settings, you can alsoincrease the ‘Mouse Sensitivity’ to be more comfortable for you in the ‘Mouse & Keyboard’ menu, considering it starts so low.
Anywhere from0.50 to 0.75 is likely to be plentyof sensitivity for most, butyou can extend itway past this.
Not all the keybinds are non-optimized, soonly the keybinds with changes will be listedbelow. These controls largely come down topersonal preference, sofeel free to mix and matchthese suggestions until you find the best control scheme for you.
Hold
T
Removes the issue of typing in all caps after playing to an unused key.
Press
Shift
Switches the sprint from a hold to a toggle like a controller. Be wary of your stamina.
‘Up’ Arrow Key
Allows you to move while inputting strategems. One of the most useful keybind switches in higher difficulties.
Double Tap
Q
Keeps it from being confused with the new Quick Stim. See the alternative below.
Spacebar.
Allows you to climb and dive using the Space Bar. Sprinting into something will also climb it most of the time.
V
Pulls out your heavy weapon using a hotkey.
Try out these keybinds and see if theymake your next mission any easier. While exploring your options,you may come up with better keybindsthat fit in line with how you prefer to play, but this largely comes from growing your experience in the game.
Best PS5 Keybinds
You have alittle less choicewhen it comes to your PS5 controllerdue to the game’s limitationsand the lack of extra buttons on your controller. That being said, there are stillsome settings you may adjustto make the experience alittle more intuitiveas a new player.
Before you change the bindings,ensure that the Look,Aim,Touch Pad, andScope Sensitivityare where you like them.
You canaccess the ‘Change Bindings’ menu for the controllerthe same way as you would with a keyboard. Instead of clicking ‘Mouse & Keyboard,‘click the ‘Controller’ menuon the left side of the screen.

You have the option to use the Motion Sensor as a PS5 controller, but this setting is disabled by default when you first start up the game. To enable it, go into the ‘Controller’ menu andselect ‘Motion Sensor Enable Mode’ beforesetting it to either Aiming,Scope, orAlways.
These controls can alsoapply to an Xbox controlleron a PC, justsubstitute for the buttonin the same position.
Depending on your preference for inverted aim and vibration, you can alsoadjust these settingsto ensure you’re the most comfortable playing.
