When it comes to modding and downloading custom content, most players are quick to add custom hair, custom clothes, or custom makeup. But, the unsung hero of the community is no doubt the skin blends that creators make to liven up your Sims.
Maxis match skin overlays can give you tons of variety in your Sims, without having to sacrifice your Sims fitting into the world Maxis has already created. With so many available, it can be tough to narrow down the best, but we’re here to do that for you.
9Oceane Skinblend
If you’re looking for a treasure trove of custom skin overlays,creator PoyoPoyo is a great place to start. They’ve got plenty of skin blends to choose from, as well as other skin details and custom eyes. If you’re trying to stock your mods folder with plenty of maxis match, PoyoPoyo has you covered.
The Oceane Skinblend is one of the creator’s best,creating a smooth finishon your Sims' features. There are also beautiful eyelids and lips, making them pop on any Sim. Best of all, there are multiple swatches to choose from for plenty of variety.
8Amendoim Skinblend
Simandy is one of the most famous Sims 4 custom content creators, and for good reason. They’ve got plenty of custom hair to pick from, buttheirskin overlays are a must-have, too. Amendoim is one of the best, smoothing out a Sim’s features and giving a natural look to the lips.
There are a few different swatches to pick from, as well as two with eyelids and eye bags.The other two swatches feature full-body coveragefor both masculine and feminine body types. The overlay is perfect for creating natural-looking Sims that don’t stand out too much from townies, while still creating a beautiful look.
7Fawn Skin
If your Sim is totally into the clean girl aesthetic, then the Fawn Skin is perfect for them. This skin overlayfeatures a subtle glow on all your Sim’s features, from their eyelids to their lips. It takes a beautiful Sim over the top, and makes for the perfect canvas to add some natural makeup.
TwistedCat is another well-known name around the Sims custom content community for maxis match lovers. They’ve got some amazing makeup CC you can use on all skin tones of Sims. The Fawn Skin from them comes with the bonus thatit’s able to be used by any life stage your Sim is in, from infant to elderly.
6Enemy Skin
One of the dreamiest Sims custom content creators out there is Miiko, and that’s proven with the Enemy Skin.This skin overlay comes in both a full and soft version, allowing for harsher lines reminiscent of the overlay’s inspiration, Arcane, and a softer blend for those less interested in the cartoon look.
The overlay includes full body coverage, as well asoptions to pick and choosewhat you want. You can have just the face overlay, the full body/face overlay, or just the coverage below the neck. Miiko has plenty of skin overlays to choose from, so it’s well worth diving into their catalog to see what else they’ve got.
The creator, Miiko, also has a custom hair that goes along with this skinblend. It’s designed to look like the character Jinx from the popular show Arcane, based on League of Legends.
5Tangerine
Getting a nice, no whistles and bells skin blend isn’t that hard, but the cream of the crop is truly the Tangerine skin by Simsinwinter. This is a simple,soft skin blend that makes your Sim’s eyes and lips pop. The glossy eyelids are a beautiful touch, along with the slight contouring on the nose.
The skinblend also comes with soft eyebags that can be seen but are not so overbearing that it takes away from the smoothness of the skin.The most subtle of glows can also be seen on the tip of the nose, giving just a bit of dimension.
4Spooky Skinblend
On the other end of the spectrum, the Spooky Skinblend by Glimersims is all about definition. Thecheekbones, nose, and eyes all receive a beautiful amount of definitionin this skinblend, picking up a Sim’s best features and running with them.
This skinblend is part of an entire pack of custom content created entirely by Glimersims, called “The Harvest”. Along with the skin overlay,it comes with two lovely hairs, the Azula hair, and the Blair hair. While you’re adding the Spooky skin overlay to your collection of mods, be sure to download those, too.
3Journey: Cartoon Style Genetics Set
While most of the previous skin overlays have been for both males and females,this one is just for the boys. There are four different skin overlays that come with this set, although you’re allowed to pick and choose the ones you want. But, for more variety, we definitely recommend downloading all of them.
The four different skin overlays are marked as the four cardinal directions, North, South, East, and West.They’re designed to work best with different ethnicities, so each Sim gets their best features highlighted. You’re not limited, though, and you’re able to pick from any of them to make your male Sims look perfect.
2Pumpkin And Spice Skinblends
This next set is two-for-one. The Pumpkin and Spice Skinblends from Kindlespice feature two beautifully crafted skin overlays that havedelicate features and in-depth details. True, they do straddle the line between Maxis match and alpha custom content, but that’s what makes them so perfect.
While the Pumpkin skin is typically meant for females, and the Spice for males,you’re able to mix them as much as you want.
They can have more freckles if you decide to switch between swatches and also lets you choose between a few options for eyelids. It allows for plenty of variety, even with just two blends.
1Puppyface Overlay
While most skin overlays are meant for adult sims, there are plenty who want some cute looks of their younger Sims. That’s exactly what Puppyface by Serawis is designed for. This skin overlay is specifically made for infants, toddlers, and child Sims.It gives your kids a softened, puffy lookthat makes sure they don’t fall victim to looking like those toddlers in alpha CC that look like tiny adults.
The skin overlay, like so many of the others, comes with quite a few swatches for you to choose from. Some swatches emphasize the chubby skin on the cheeks,while others smooth it out while the Sim gets older. It’s perfect to keep on your Sims as they go through each stage of life.
