It’s finally February and that means one thing and one thing only. We’re all playingSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. Just kidding, although I am enjoyingRocksteady’s new game more than most. February means it is now less than a month until the release ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Releasing exclusively onPS5on June 30, 2025, some of you may have been given an unexpected shock this week when Best Buy emailed you to let you know the pre-order for your Deluxe Edition of the sequel had been canceled.
Reported by Wario64, if you received that email from Best Buy, then your pre-order really has been canceled. Best Buy reached out after the cancelations to confirm a mistake had been made. However, unable to simply reverse that mistake, anyone who received an email telling them their pre-orders had been canceled will now need to place their order again. The money you initially paid should have been credited back to your account, so there shouldn’t be any risk of being charged twice.

The one issue is the availability of a Steelbook exclusive to pre-orders placed through Best Buy, or rather the lack of it. Hours before the unintentional cancelations, Best Buy revealed that while copies of Rebirth’s Deluxe Edition are still in stock, it is all out of the exclusive Steelbook that was previously advertised.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
WHERE TO PLAY
Final Fantasy Rebirth is the second part of the FF7 Remake project. It continues the story of Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER turned mercenary who joins Avalanche, a group of eco-terrorists seeking to save the planet from the malevolent Sephiroth. As the party pushes out of Midgar, leaving the Shinra Corporation devastated, where will their paths take them?
There is a happy ending to all this, albeit an inconvenient one for those of you who placed pre-orders months ago having them canceled unexpectedly. The message from Best Buy confirming canceled pre-orders will need to be placed again asks customers to use the same email address as they did when placing their order the first time. That way, they can ensure those who placed pre-orders while the exclusive Steelbooks were still in stock will still get them when the game launches later this month.

If you’ve been ducking Rebirth due to the fact you haven’t playedFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeyet, now might be your final chance to hop aboard the bandwagon before it speeds off on February 29. I’d recommendbuying the twin-pack through the PlayStation Storewhich includes a Rebirth pre-order and a copy of Remake you may play right now. Possibly the best Rebirth deal available as the twin pack costs the same as buying Rebirth all by itself, meaning Remake is essentially free.
