More than twenty years after the original release, Blizzard keeps trying to innovate uponWorld of Warcraft’s success. The developers have been experimenting with the MMO that shaped the genre into what it is today, trying to bring a sense of novelty that would attract new players and, perhaps more importantly, convince veterans to come back.
Season of Discovery has been a massive success, and Plunderstorm seems to be following in its footsteps. The 60-player battle-royale, which was heavily influenced by Spellbreak (after all, Blizzard acquired the studio who made it), has been a blast to play. Here are a few tips to get you started.

8Experiment
Learn Every Spell
As is the case with any other game that revolves around spells, knowledge is key in Plunderstorm. Unlock the PVP side of World of Warcraft, the barrier of entry here is quite small, as there are only twenty spells and thirteen consumables.
Before settling on the few that you prefer, equip as many different spells as you’re able to. Using them will be the faster way for you to understand them. After you’re familiar with most or all, you can pick your favorite spells, and you’ll know how to counter-play your opponents.

7Focus On Elite Creatures
Follow The Stars!
Leveling up is extremely important in Wow: Plunderstorm. Every time you gain a level, your abilities will deal extra damage, and you’ll get more max health points. This can be the crucial difference between life and death.
Elite Creatures are not only your best source of early experience, they also always drop a spell or item alongside abit of plunder. you’re able to see them marked on your minimap with a star, and you should focus them as much as you can in the earlier stages of each match.

6Use Your Bird Offensively
One Hell Of An Entrance
You might’ve noticed that, unlike most other battle royales, you land with a bang in Plunderstorm. There’s no parachuting here; you just fly on top of your bird until it smashes onto the ground.
The smashing animation and sound isn’t just for show, either. Landing your bird on top of enemies deals damage, including to players. If you’re dropping into a contested area, either land onto a rare to one-shot it and immediately get a spell, or land onto the player(s) that got there first.

5Do Your World Quests
Sweet Plunder
On the right side of your screen, right under the minimap, you’ll have a new objective at the start of each match. Doing it doesn’t give you any advantage in the game itself, but it will give you a huge amount of plunder.
While you’re able to get plunder by just playing the game normally, killing enemies and opening chests, none will give you as big of a single reward as these objectives do. Even if you get eliminated quickly, as long as you complete your bonus task, you’ll have made bank.

4Don’t Hide
The Coins Won’t Fall Onto Your Lap
If you come from other battle royales, or you’re just not a fan of PVP, you might have a tendency to hide to make sure you stay alive for longer. That might indeed get you some better finishes, but unless you get first place, that won’t really matter.
The plunder you get from a higher placement does not make up for the amount you missed on by not actively playing. If you’re killing things, even if they’re just AI enemies, you’ll always get a lot of plunder, regardless of your placement. It’s called Plunderstorm, after all, so get plunderin'!

3Level Your Spells Up
Purple Spells Are The Goal
Your character isn’t the only thing that can level up in WoW: Plunderstorm. All spells have four ranks tied to them, and leveling them up will have a huge impacton your damage. Higher level spells deal more damage, have lower cooldown, and they might even have increased cast times.
Leveling spells is simple: get duplicates of the one you have equipped, and it will level up. If you pick up an already upgraded version of your spell, it will stack up to the maximum rank of four. While opening chests or killing Pieces of Hate, you can get lucky and pick up an already fully-upgraded spell.

2Check Your Enemies' Level
Don’t Pick Losing Fights
As we mentioned previously, your character level is extremely impactful in Plunderstorm. That goes two ways, obviously. If you’re upagainst a soloor duo with a higher level than you, you’ll probably lose, even if you have high-rank spells.
you’re able to avoid being put in this position by simply hovering over the players' names as soon as they show up on your screen. An info screen will show up, telling you their level and letting you know if it will be a winnable fight or not. From our experience, fights with one level of difference are doable, but anything more than that isn’t.

1Don’t Ignore Items
The Single-Use Wonders
While spells will almost always decide how fights go, a clutch utilization of the right item in the right situation can change the tide of a battle. There are 13 items to learn, but it is definitely worth doing.
Just remember that items are one-use only, so pick your timing well. A barrel to roll away from a fight, a snowman to get everyone sliding against their will, or the cheeky bush to get your opponents a jumpscare. A well-used item can win you games.
