Action RPGs are fun for collecting loot and making your characters as powerful as possible, which is exemplified inLast Epoch. You’ll find yourself picking from one of the five classes with options to upgrade to three Masteries for each one. The game provides plenty of upgrades and choices to play it exactly as you want while exploring the world.
However, the systems can be confusing to manage, along with various gameplay elements. Whether you need to learn how to build your character or understand how negative Mana works, this beginner guide will help you. Take some time to apply these tips to your playthrough and see how you can save the world.

Start With A Solo Account Found Character
It can bedistracting and difficult to deal with other playerswhen you start. When you play online, you have multiple tools to help you, but it can make it harder to improve at the game, especially if you rely on others.
you’re able to go with a Solo Account or Solo Character:both prevent you from joining a partywith other players or getting their items. A Solo Account Found (SAF) Character can share items in the Stash with other SAFs, but a Solo Character Found (SCF) can’t share.

Try out the five starting classes with SAF Characters. you may get a feel for how they play and decide who you want to focus on while sharing items between characters.
Once you get a feel for the game, you shouldcreate an online character.

Choose The Cycle Realm
As you create your character, you mustchoose between the Cycle and Legacy Realms. They have a few crucial differences, with the Cycle Realm being the recommended choice.
No access to your other characters and their stashes.

You can access other characters and their stashes.
You start fresh and can play with various updates.

Cycles end after three to four months.
It’s always available.
When the Cycle Realm ends, your characters will automatically move to the Legacy Realm. This means you may as well start on the Cycle Realm, then pick up the Legacy Realm when you want to go back to or perfect your characters.
Try Every Skill You Unlock
Last Epoch unlocks different Skills as you level up rather than requiring you to put points into them to use them. For instance, you havenine Skills on each base Class that you’ll get automatically.
It’s crucial for you to try every skill as you unlock them to see their potential. For example, if you’re playing the Primalist class, you shouldtry out the Maelstrom and Summon Thorn Totem Skills, even though they’re both AoE moves.

Testing them will let you see which one works better for your playstyle. On top of that, you’ll need to assign Skills as Specialized Skills when you level up, meaning you’ll want to make five of them your main focus by the time you unlock all the Specialized Skill slots.
Spam Your Specialized Skills
Speaking of Specialized Skills, you should use them as much as possible. Once you pick a Specialized Skill,it will gain experience as you use it, which you may use on its Skill Tree.
The Skill Tree is crucial for each Specialized Skill, since putting points into it increases your damage or makes adjustments. For instance, you’re able to take the Fireball spell on the Mage Class and increase its damage or make it shoot three Fireballsat a higher cost.

As you unlock more Specialized Skills, get into the habit of rotating through them.Use long cooldown spells, like AoE or Defense spells, when they’re off cooldownto maximize your Experience gain.
If you find a spell doesn’t work for you, or you want to switch to a better one, you canclick the Respec button in the top-right corner of the Specialized Skill screen. Even though you’ll lose experience for that Skill, you can test different combinations.

Complete Every Quest You Encounter
You can expect to encounter multiple side quests and main quests throughout the game. Although you may feel like speeding through the game, it’scrucial you take your time to complete side quests.
Whenever you complete quests, you gain rewards, such as Gold and Experience Points. However, some side quests will unlock Passive Skill Pointsand other bonuses.

Passive Skill Points can sometimes be more powerful than leveling up, since they let you augment your characters.
This will also encourage you to explore, helping you prepare for upcoming areas. Each area will have a recommended level, so if you take on these quests, you’ll likely be at or above the recommended level.
Use Town Portals Often
Portals are a powerful tool since you’ll find yourself needing to return to a town and sell your items. You have limited inventory space, so if you aren’t fighting any enemies, you canuse a Town Portal to return to the last village you visited.
Doing so will let you go to the merchant, sell items, and return through the Town Portal. Such a setup makes it perfect foranyone looking to maximize their Goldwithout needing to backtrack.
You should alsoactivate every teleport point you come across. They can be great reminders to return to town and sell some items.
Have A Single Target, AoE, And Defense Skill
Luckily, the classes are set up in a way where you cancover your DPS and defense needs alone. This includes Skills meant to maximize damage on one target, ones designed to hit multiple foes, and abilities that can protect or heal you.
For example, if you’re playing the Mage Class, you havemultiple Skills for each category.
Teleport
Static
Since you can have five Skills equipped at a time, you shouldgo with a combination of three Single-Target and AoE spells. You should alsoget two Defensive Skills, with one increasing your defense and the other giving you an escape, if possible.
As you level up Specialized Skills, you can use them for multiple purposes. For example,Snap Freeze can be used defensively to stop enemies, while Fireball can be upgraded to hit multiple foes.
Use Your Healing Potions Often
As you play through different segments, you’ll find Healing Potions on the ground. These scale as you level up, though you can only hold so manyof them at a time. For instance, near the start of the game, you’ll only have three or so Healing Potions. Because of that, you shoulduse them whenever you drop to below half Health.
Some enemies, especially bosses, can quickly melt your Health, making it crucial to monitor and heal right away.
If you’re holding the max amount of Health Potions, you’llautomatically use the next one you pick up, making that a good alternative to not let them go to waste.
Use Negative Mana In A Pinch
Each of your spells have a Mana Cost, though Last Epochhas a unique mechanic where you can go over the Mana limit. For instance, if you only have 30 Mana left, and you spend a spell that costs 50 Mana, you’llbe at negative 20 Mana.
Instead of preventing you from casting the Skill, you may go over your limit, giving you more flexibility with casting. However, you won’t be able to cast any more spells until your Mana becomes positive.
You should use thisnegative Mana mechanic to escape dangerous situations. For example, if you’re playing a Rogue, you can teleport out of a dangerous situation and run away until your Mana restores.
