Exploring the world ofAlone In The Darkcan be a terrifying and fun experience. You can play as Emily Hartwood or Edward Carnby, looking to explore the mansion and learn more about what happened there. As you explore the mansion, you’ll encounter multiple monsters and challenging puzzles, testing your abilities and having you discover hints to solve the mystery.
Even if you played the original release, you’ll notice multiple differences in the modern remake, such as using an over-the-shoulder camera rather than static camera angles. As you encounter these differences and new surprises, you should apply some tips to help you navigate the mansion and find Emily’s uncle, Jeremy.

Explore Everything
As soon as you start your adventure, get into the habit of exploring everything. Look for different interactive elements, such as doors, items, and many others.
Even inconsequential items, like the Lagniappes, canunlock you new weapons, lore, and other benefits.

You can check the game settings andchoose modern optionsto make a circle appear on important items.
When In Doubt, Visit Gray And Pink Rooms
Once you get the Map, therooms appear as three different colors.
What It Means
Gray
Youhaven’t visited this room yet, and you may not have access to it. See if you may find access.
Pink
You have visited the room, buthaven’t found everything in it. This also means you haven’t completed some of the puzzles and may need to return.
Blue
You’vecollected everything in the room, including optional items. Don’t bother spending time looking through the room.
Since these rooms will be highlighted on the map, you shouldlet things go if you find a puzzle you can’t complete yet.

Ready Your Weapon When The Environment Changes
Pay attention towhen the environment changes. For example, the room you’re in may visually change and become darker, or a door that was previously unlocked may now be locked.
If this happens, immediately draw your weapon, since a monster can appear. You usually must accomplish something to return things to normal.

Sometimes, it happens during cutscenes, butit can also occur suddenly, so always pay attention.
Use The Third-Person Camera To Your Advantage
Thanks to the third-person camera, you have some advantages not provided by first-person games.
Many times, monsters will hide around corners, so you should look around them before you step into a new hallway. With the third-person camera, you may quickly check your surroundings whenever you hear an enemy, letting you find them before they approach you.

This is also crucial if you want tokeep tabs on monsters while they walk around. You can see which way they go and travel in the opposite direction.
Stealth And Combat Tips
Speaking of keeping tabs on monsters, fighting enemies doesn’t provide any benefits, making it just a waste of resources. As you attempt to work on your stealth, you should keep the two types of throwable objects in mind.
Brick
Itmakes noise and stuns enemieswhen you hit them.
Primarily use it to distract enemies, though it can be used against them when needed.

Molotov
Itbursts into fire when you hit an enemy with it. Some require a spark from a gun while others activate immediately.
To take down enemies, since most of them are weak to fire, while preserving ammo. However, it can hurt you too.

Distracting enemies can be great for making your way to certain objectives, but they’ll sometimes see you anyway. See if you may run away and potentiallyclimb something to get out of their reach.
Monsters who haven’t noticed you will follow a route, so learn where they’ll walk to make sneaking easier.
If you must fight, use yourgun as your primary weapon, and don’t be stingy with bullets, you’ll find enough as you play.
The same applies to heals, since you can only carry five at a time. They restore 25 percent of your health, so keep your health up rather than holding onto restorative items.
You should alsolook for the yellow damage icon for melee weaponsin the bottom-right corner. Instead of carrying a damaged weapon, swap it out, so it won’t break in the middle of combat.
Use Quick Attacks, Not Strong Attacks
Strong attacks are practically uselesscompared to quick attacks. They take too long to come out, with some enemies out-ranging you.
Spam your quick attacks against enemies until they go down: you canstun-lock enemies by mashing the button. But be careful if you have more than one enemy attacking you, since your weapon may not reach all of them, causing you to take damage.
Pay attention to when enemies are defeated, sincehitting the floor or a wall can deal damage to your weaponand break it.
Create Space For Healing And Reloading
If things get tough and you need to heal or reload, be careful. Youcan’t perform any other actions once you start healing or reloading, sofight in open areas, or at locations where you can put an object such as cars, tables or even debris between you and the enemy.
When you sprint away from enemies, you’ll outrun them, especially if you quickly turn corners. Get a fair distance away, then perform your heal or reload.
Don’t Fear Death
Enemies don’t respawn, and those left behind appear where you left them, meaning you won’t have to deal with any foes you have already defeated.
You alsokeep any items or collectibles you encountered when you died, allowing you to restrategize. Just choose to reload your autosave and keep going from there to keep your progress up to that point.
