At this point last year, I’m not sure evenBaldur’s Gate 3early adopters knew what an absolute behemoth of a game it was going to turn into. It’s made an ungodly amount of money, swept award shows like it was nothing, and has gone down as one of the greatest and most beloved RPGs ever made. To really drive home that fact, Baldur’s Gate 3 recently passed the half a million mark for user reviews on Steam.

At the time of writing, Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently sitting at 500,362 user reviews and climbing, and that number will be woefully out of date in just a few days as the user reviews keep rolling in. Take into account the reviews from players who received a code for the game, as these reviews aren’t included in the official tally, and Baldur’s Gate 3 is sitting at an even more impressive 560,710 user reviews.

Head on over toSteam’s Most Reviewed page, and you’ll find that over half a million user reviews puts Baldur’s Gate 3 in some pretty esteemed company. Nestled betweenWarframeand Unturned, Baldur’s Gate 3 sits in 25th in the charts, with the likes ofStardew Valley, Payday 2, andDestiny 2slightly ahead of it. It’s also managed to amass more user reviews than behemoths such asRed Dead Redemption 2,Skyrim,Fallout 4, and many, many more.

It should also be noted that Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently the only game in the Top 25 to have been released in 2023, with Lethal Company at 39 being the closest competitor.

It’s an impressive accomplishment, and one that really does cement Baldur’s Gate 3 as one of the greatest of all time, hanging out alongside the likes ofElden Ring, Stardew Valley,Among Us, andCyberpunk 2077. Even Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke has acknowledged the milestone via his personal Twitter account, thanking everyone that left a review and saying that reading through all of them has been “pure joy”.

With all those adoring fans and accolades falling out the wazoo, attention has understandably turned to what’s next for Larian Studios. While we’re probably very, very far away from seeing the final product release, Vincke stated only a month after Baldur’s Gate 3 came out that he hasalready begun working on the next title. Whatever that may be, I can guarantee there will be a very long line of people waiting to play it.
