Baldur’s Gate 3is known for a lot of things, but its raunchy romance scenes are top of the list. Before it left early access, it went viral for a clip in whichAstarion boned a bear(Halsin using Wild Shape, but a bear nonetheless). It then came to light that you could get it on witha mind flayerand drow twins, only fueling that reputation. But half a year later, fans are hungry for things to get more explicit.
“There’s barely any sexual content in this game,” Then_Picture8984 posted, disappointed at how little they bumped uglies in their time so far. “The first playthrough took me 140 hours. I got like two sex scenes. So that’s like maybe 40 seconds of sex out of 140 hours of normal gameplay.”
Not to be a bear fu**er, but the bear sex scene everyone screams about is barely even a scene… it’s a bear sex cutaway.
Plenty in the comments called the majority of the game’s romances “tame”, with one fan adding that “the brothel was really disappointing”. defianthoneybee said, “Astarion’s sex scenes were boring as hell and too few to me. Especially [since] Ascended leaves a good-aligned player without two of them. I wanted something a bit wild but when you have people in bulky mocap suits making things awkward doing them… it’s kind of weird.”
There are a few explicit scenes in Baldur’s Gate 3, like Minthara’s incredibly detailed romance to the backdrop of a besieged grove, the groping of mind flayer tentacles as you attempt to pleasure your dream-bound friend, and (try explaining this to anyone out of the loop) getting intimate with that bear I mentioned. But for every slaughter-fueled wild ride, there are twice as many fade to blacks. It’s where things get seedy that fans are asking for more of.
“The way people described this game was borderline pornographic and I onlywishit were true,” sakura-sweetheart commented. “It’s not.”
It’s completely overblown by people that have never played it. If there were graphic penetration shots I could maybe understand, but it’s more like “boobs, wiener, lay down, fade to black”.
“I had a sex scene I didn’t even realise was a sex scene,” Dapper-Log-5936 added. “I kept waiting for the Shadowwheart one and then I realised I had it. I couldn’t tell it was a sex scene. Then the big orgy… had nothing..”
Of course, modders are already at work on making these wishes come true. At the end of last month, theBG3 Sex Frameworkmod was released, giving the community the tools to take things even further and build their own romantic escapades. It won’t be long now before things get more explicit.
