Baldur’s Gate 3is a huge game. While the main path forward through each of its three acts may seem obvious, there are a lot of hidden paths and optional areas, which means there’s a lot of missable content. Luckily, fans on the subreddit are sharing all of their discoveries so that you may have a more complete playthrough next time.
“What do you think the most missable content is?” FizzingSlit asked on the subreddit. One fan responded, “Shadowheart giving up on how clueless you are and just outing herself as a Sharran because you’re either too stupid to see it or not curious about her enough to ask.”

You can make it all the way tothe Nightsongwithout finding out if you don’t press, meaning that you can complete Shar’s trials without knowing why Shadowheart is so deeply invested, going as far as to shed her blood at the altar. Maybe she’s just an excited adventurer willing to try anything.
Others mentionthe Shadow Druids in Act 1,an optional questline that leads to an early confrontation in the Grove. If you snoop about Kagha’s bedroom, you’ll find a hidden chest with a letter that directs you to the swamps where you’ll find evidence of her conspiring with a sect of druids who have been around since the very first Baldur’s Gate. They view civilisation as inherently evil and seek to protect nature by any means necessary, often destroying whole towns in the process.
Confront her and they’ll appear, revealing that they’re the driving force behind the ritual to cast away all outsiders. You can convince Kagha that what she’s doing is wrong, and she’ll help you fight the Shadow Druids, putting an end to the ritual. However, you’ll still be asked to go and save Halsin.
There’s alsothe Kuo-Toa in the Underdark, a species of fish people who manifest their gods through thought. You find them to the south by a very easy-to-miss cragged rock that leads to a tucked-away cave. They’re worshipping a god called “BOOAL”, a poor imitation of the real Bhaal, but you can usurp their god or murder in their name.
Another hidden path in Act 1 can be found in the Blighted Village. A basement inside one of the homes leads toa necromancer’s hideoutwhere you can steal a slightly unnerving book with a screaming face stitched onto the cover.
Other suggestions include Minthara, who most people kill; a cutscene that only plays if you long restbeforefinding Shadowheart on the beach; the entirety of the Mountain pass because of Halsin’s comments; the Jungle/Chult filled with dinosaurs; Gale absorbing Shadow Weave from the Thorm family to gain extra third level spell slots; Tara’s two special items; and Rolan’s projection in Last Light Inn.
Just what we all needed, another excuse to start a new playthrough.
