There have been some amazing video games that come from animated movies. From The Incredibles to South Park, Stick of Truth, animated movies have taken over video games by storm! Some movies have a built-in audience, so the games are sure to be a hit. Unfortunately, some movies are overlooked.
There are so many amazing movies that aren’t getting the representation they deserve. They would make incredible video games, ones I would buy the second they came out! Below, you’ll find which animated movies NEED to be made into video games.
10Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
Spider-man Across the Spider-verse would make an absolutely amazing video game. Of course, there are a lot of different Spider-Man video games, from Amazing Spider-Man from the 1990s to the2023 Spider-Man 2 game. Miles Morales has multiple video games now and is a well-known character.
This movie was absolutely incredible, with a multiverse and so many different Spider-Men you could play as. This movie already had an interwoven plot that you could easily follow within a video game. You would start as Miles Morales and cross the multiverse to defeat The Spot.
9Spirited Away
There are multiple games that are based onStudio Ghibli movies, but none that actually follow the plot of Spirited Away. Games like Spiritfarer and Yokai Inn both take inspiration from this iconic movie but also take inspiration from other Studio Ghibli films as well.
In Spirited Away, Chihiro and her family find an abandoned amusement park that turns out to be a resort for spirits. Chihiro has to work there to free herself and her family. The amusement park setting would make for an amazing video game. The video game’s main character could work at different booths and rides, helping spirits until you finish the game.
8Encanto
Encanto is anincredibly popular movie,so it’s surprising it hasn’t been made into a video game. This movie follows Mirabel, the only member of her family to not have a special power. The town she lives in is losing its magic, and Mirabel is the only one who can restore it.
This game could go in multiple directions. It could follow the family after the movie, showing Mirabel helping others, changing the way the town works, and decorating the new house, similar to Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley. Or, it could follow the plot of the movie, with different puzzles based on the different members of her family.
7Bob’s Burgers Movie
Bob’s Burgers is an incredibly funny TV show that follows the Belcher’s and their family-run burger restaurant. The Bob’s Burgers Movie came out in 2022. In this movie, there’s a sinkhole in the front of the restaurant, and a dead body is found. Bob and Linda are worried about the restaurant not doing well, and the kids are worried about the mystery of the dead body.
The game could be a mix ofa cooking gamewith Bob and a mystery game with the children. Bob tries to create a cart and has to make and sell burgers there. The kids chase down the killer, traveling through the town, including in their dad’s boss’ tree house. Since this movie is split between these two plots, the game would have to be, too, which would make it unique.
6Book Of Life
Book of Life is a movie from 2014. It follows two men who are in love with the same woman. Two gods make a bet on who will win, and one of the gods plays dirty. He aids in the murder of the other man, Manolo. When Manolo realizes what happened, he traverses through the land of the dead to beg for his life back so he can be with the love of his life.
Book of Life has the most uniquely beautiful design. This design would be incredible if it was shifted into a video game format. It’s a colorful movie with beautiful music and a star-filled cast. Traversing through the Day of the Dead would be a fantastic game filled with culture, beauty, and addicting music.
5Brave Little Toaster
Brave Little Toaster is a 1987 film about five electric appliances trying to find the little boy who used to live in their house. There are a lot of small mishaps, such as blanky blowing into the tree or the appliances running out of power.
This movie would be nostalgic for so many people who watched this movie as a kid. It could have a similar path toPsychonauts(a platforming adventure game), moving through different areas and collecting points to beat the game. The appliances could go through complicated puzzles and fun areas to eventually be reunited with Rob.
4Nimona
Nimona is a 2023 Netflix movie based on the 2015 graphic novel by ND Stevenson. The movie follows Nimona, a teenager with shape-shifting abilities that have been compared to the trans experience. Nimona becomes the sidekick to a former knight, working to clear his name.
This game would be an incredible asset to the LGBTQIA+ community. ND Stevenson, the creator of the graphic novel, is nonbinary and transmasculin. This character is what makes this movie so enticing. The video game just needs Nimona. It can follow the plot of the movie, it can follow a different adventure, it doesn’t matter, as long as Nimona is there.
3Kronk’s New Groove
Kronk’s New Groove is a sequel to the infamous Emperor’s New Groove. Kronk is now a chef and a head delivery boy. The entire movie is a flashback that explains how Kronk has gotten to where he is now.
This film would translate into the most amazing cooking game. You could cook endless recipes and have to deliver them yourself. It could showcase different characters from the show, including Pacha, Yzma, and Kuzko.
2The Grinch (2018)
The Grinch is a classic tale that has been retold throughout generations. The most recent retelling included a likable Grinch voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch. The beloved story follows the Grinch, who is left out of Christmas and tries to destroy it.
There was a Grinch video game that came out in the year 2000. This game surrounds destroying Christmas through some fun moves such as smelly breath. This game should be revamped around the new movie. It can include mini-games and going from home to home. The first game surrounded destroying Christmas, but this one could be about putting Christmas back together.
1Raya And The Last Dragon
Raya and the Last Dragon is a fantasy film from 2021. Raya is determined to find the Last Dragon and have it help her destroy the evil with its dragon magic. The movie has a beautiful, unique dragon and has five different regions to explore.
The video game could follow Raya finding the dragon, traveling throughout the regions, training the dragon, and working to defeat evil together. This game could also have incredible end-game content and mini-games involving flying with the dragon, doing menial tasks, and helping people on small quests.
