Amazonhas shared a clip from its upcomingFalloutshow, giving us a better look at our three main characters. The scene depicts a showdown between our Vault Dweller, Lucy, and a character simply known as The Ghoul before being shut down by the Brotherhood of Steel.
This is the first scene to be shared by Amazonoutside of trailersand likely shows the first time that the main trio meet in the story. The scene appears to take place in a settlement reminiscent of the various towns we’d find inFallout 3, particularly Megaton.
However, the most exciting part for fans of the games will be seeing the power armour in action. While the clip cuts off before any proper fight can kick off, we can see that the show has mostly kept power armour faithful to their depiction in theBethesda-developed games, while also giving its wearer - presumably Maximus in this instance - a more imposing voice.
We also get to see how the writers have characterised the Vault Dwellers, with the show depicting them as naive and unprepared to face the wasteland. Here, Lucy appears to recount a rehearsed script, likely taught by Vault-Tec, on how to de-escalate a confrontation. But of course, it’s laughably out of touch. This is something the show will be able to explore that the games rarely touch on, since most of the time, the only Vault Dweller we see is the one we’re playing as.
Of course, this clip doesn’t tell us anything about the main story, which the writers are keeping close to their chests right now. They have, however, said that some story elements had to be dropped becauseBethesda told them they were going to be in Fallout 5. One of the showrunners, Graham Wagner, also confirmed that Bethesda had told them some details about the long-awaited Fallout 5, so there wasn’t any crossover. With that said, don’t expect Fallout 5 anytime soon, as it’s coming afterThe Elder Scrolls 6- whenever that launches.
Amazon will likely share more clips ahead of the show’s premiere, which is set for April 11. All eight episodes in the first season will drop at once on Amazon Prime.
