Summary
As it stands,Baldur’s Gate 3has anumber of fantastic romance options, and we wouldn’t sacrifice any of our beloved companions for anyone new. With that being said, maybe Larian Studios shouldn’t have made so many of their NPCs interesting, attractive, and all together way too tempting. After all, the more we revisit this world, the more we want to learn about the people populating it.
From cute bards to sadistic torturers, Baldur’s Gate has an NPC for almost everyone. These characters aren’t likely to actually get their own romantic plot lines, but we would have a lot of fun with them if they did.

10Araj Oblodra
An Eccentric Alchemist
This alchemist can be found in Moonrise Towers, in Act 2, and talking to her will reveal her backstory as a member of the House Oblodra, which basically means she’s a scientist. This leads to a lot of interesting interactions, especially because she needs your blood to run a lot of her experiments, and couldn’t donating it be considered a form of bonding?
She’s a very fun character, with a lot of passion, and we would love to see some Drow representation in our romance options. Plus, she’s really into vampires, andbeing able to accommodate that isn’t out of the question in this game.

9He Who Was
If the popularity of Astarion is anything to go by, people love a bad boy. Especially one with a dark past and white hair.He Who Was is found in Act 2;a Shadar-Kai, who’s been tasked with collecting history around tragic events for his mistress. Meeting him and helping him is one of the more unique quests of the Act, making him stand out.
We don’t learn a lot about why this servant of the Raven Queen is arguing with his raven, or why he’s started taking such an active role in collecting memories for her, but we’d certainly like to. Though that could just be the fully open shirt of his costume talking.

8Sazza
A Firey, Outspoken Goblin
This one is for those of you who want at least one goblin option. That, and we’re a little attached to Sazza after escorting her back to her camp and spending time vouching for each other. Her fiery personality would also be right at home with people who already love Lae’zel.
After rescuing Barcus Wroot twice, you can offer to let him join your camp, so why can’t we do the same the second time we save Sazza? She probably wouldn’twantto stay in your camp if you’re not following the Absolute, and also clearing out the Goblin Camp, but who can say? Maybe you could win her over with your romantic prowess.

7Abdirak
A Master Of Masochism
Found in the Goblin Camp, and ready to torture you for the pleasure of the Pain Goddess Loviatar, Abdirak is certainlynoteveryone’s cup of tea. There isn’t much to say about this character, who isn’t in the game for long, other than that he is very interested in hurting you. And he’s very into it.
This certainly makes this charged encounter memorable, as does his skimpy outfit made of what looks to be mostly leather straps. Maybe romance isn’t the word we should be using here, upon further reflection.

6Volo
The Famous Storyteller
You first meet this bumbling wizard in the Emerald Grove, and you almost immediately need to rescue him from his ill-fated information-gathering trip to the Goblin Camp. In the lore of DnD’s Forgotten Realms, Volothamp “Volo” Geddarm is famous for his guidebooks, and you’ve got to admire his dedication to getting out there and doing his own research, even if you don’t admire the gaps he fills in with his own exaggerations.
Volo would be a low-stakes love interest in a high-stakes world, and he’d be sure to entertain you no matter where you two went, as long as you got used to rescuing him. He already spends a lot of time in your camp, so a romantic story line could feel completely natural.

5Jaheira
An Old Friend With New Moves
Since Jaheira has appeared in all three of the Baldur’s Gate games, she comes with a storied past that makes her instantly feel like a well-rounded character. She is a skilled fighter, an experienced older woman, she loves snarky humor, and she’s had several foster kids: she checks a lot of boxes.
Sure, you’d have to live in the shadow of her dead husband, Khalid, but that’s alright. In terms of getting her own romantic story line, she’s probably the most likely, as she was already romanceable in the previous game.

4Raphael
The Devil In The Details
Raphael is a cambion who meets you in Act 1, offering to help you if you’ll just give him your soul—classic deal with the devil stuff. While he’s narcissistic, cunning, manipulative, and romancing him is a terrible idea, he’s also got an undeniable flair.
While it’s unlikely the power of love would change him, there are so many ways to be evil in this game that trying to cut in on Raphael’s clearly lucrative deal business doesn’t even seem that bad. Since most relationships with companies tend to progress in a straightforward way, a relationship with Raphael tempts all of us who are in it for the drama.

3Dammon
A Charming Blacksmith
Anyone aiming to save Karlach has met Dammon, who can first be found in the Emerald Grove in Act 1. He has an interesting backstory, having spent time as a blacksmith in the Hells, and this has made him incredibly competent at his craft.
He’s kind, reliable, and helpful, and because of that, he would make a good partner for anyone lucky enough to get to know him. The tiefling’s gentle good looks don’t hurt either. Clearly, as Wyll’s glow-up also demonstrates, horns are also a pretty popular addition to character design.

2Alfira
Your Favorite Bard
You’ll first meet this energetic bard in the Emerald Grove, where she’s working on a song in tribute to her dead mentor. From there, if you continue to prioritize the well-being of the tieflings, you’ll continue to see her all along your journey. She’s consistently optimistic, colorful, and friendly, which makes her an easy choice.
Of course, Alfria has her own happy ending with Lakrissa, if you get them both to Act 3, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t also have options. Imagine all the songs that she could write about the two of you.
1Dame Aylin And Isobel Thorm
The Ultimate Dream Team
If you make it through Act 2 with both Dame Aylin and Isobel Thorm intact, you’ll be treated to their adorable relationship. Both of them are so cool in their own right, with one of them sporting actual angel wings, that it might feel a little disappointing for us single hopefuls to know that they’re already together, and we’d never want to actually break them up. But we can still dream.
Both of these characters would make great romantic plot lines on their own, especially Dame Aylin, whose romantic involvement with you could makeher entire quest with Lorroakan feel more personal. It could also be interesting to have the option to romance them both, without breaking them up.
